Hauling bananas to market: Girls from China's tibal folks, painted by Shanghai artist Yao Yuxin in 1977. This was the first art work I bought, in 1978. I was then a rookie journalist and it cost me S$700, just over a month's salary. But, what the heck, I fell in love the moment I saw her at the Pheonix art gallery in Waterloo Street, downtown Singapore. – Francis Chin
